As a Project Manager, your primary responsibility is to maximize the company’s profitability by preventing risk, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction and preserving the excellence of the company’s long-term reputation.
You will be responsible for overseeing all activities related to the forecasting, development and construction of large-scale institutional projects. This includes the management of the entire project management cycle, from preparatory project activities to the completion and closure of the project, including the preparation of opportunity files and the completion of the related business case.
Your extensive experience in managing tens or even hundreds of millions of dollars of projects allows you to have an overview of the project management cycle and allocate the necessary resources for each stage of implementation in order to meet the schedule and budget agreed with the client. You excel at optimizing content, procurement, quality, cost, and schedule parameters.
You will oversee the development of administrative and support documents and the structure of work packages. You will also supervise the drafting of certain tender documents, the estimation process, the analysis of constructability using BIM models and the implementation of work plans for each of the stages of project implementation. Once the construction phase of the project has begun, you will need to travel to the construction sites to monitor the progress of the work, control project costs, ensure that deadlines are met and ensure positive working relationships with all stakeholders to carry out major projects.
You demonstrate strong interpersonal communication skills and you want to participate in large-scale institutional building construction projects. You need to have an excellent sense of organization and planning. You demonstrate thoroughness and tact in the multiple aspects of your work while being results-oriented. Unifying, you are endowed with a very good team spirit. You can handle the pressure well and you can solve and anticipate problems in order to enforce contracts and deadlines. This is a permanent full-time position, requiring an occasional but regular presence on the site.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, organize, direct and control all activities necessary for the implementation of the project;
- Coordinate the validation of the general parameters of the project;
- Coordinate the development and follow-up of the work plan – business case, technical functional program, project program, etc. – when required;
- Supervise the implementation and monitoring of the project management plan – perimeters, content, risks, procurement, estimation, etc. – when required;
- Control costs and respect budgets;
- Oversee the management of existing contracts;
- Ensure compliance with government, environmental and occupational health and safety requirements, among other things;
- Monitor the progress of the work;
- Oversee the follow-up of changes to contracts;
- Analyze project cost reports;
- Monitor follow-ups and updates to timelines
- Implement and maintain the quality assurance and risk management program;
- Coordinate work teams with the site superintendent;
- Promote and ensure the maintenance of positive working relationships with all parties: subcontractors, customers, suppliers and professionals.
SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or architecture or equivalent;
- 15 years of experience in managing institutional building construction projects;
- Good analytical, synthesis and problem-solving skills;
- Know how to organize;
- Know how to plan;
- Know how to control;
- Have a good knowledge of BIM;
- Know how to manage your time and priorities;
- Know how to manage multidisciplinary teams, be unifying and know how to communicate;
- Have political sense;
- Be results-oriented;
- Hold PMP certification (an asset);
- Have an excellent command of spoken and written French, fluency in English is an asset.
